Social Auxiliary Worker

As a social auxiliary worker, your role will be to assist social workers to provide support, protection and assistance to those in need and who are vulnerable or in crisis. This can be for individuals or communities as a whole. Essentially, social auxiliary workers support social workers in promoting healthy relationships and community life.

Just like social workers, auxiliary social workers are deeply caring people who can communicate well and are generally optimistic about life.

Get the Required Qualifications

To become a social auxiliary worker in South Africa, you will typically need the following qualifications:

1. Certificate (National Senior Certificate or NS(V) certificate)
2. Short Course – A 1-year training course at an accredited institution to receive your qualification
3. Learnership (There are also a number of learnerships provided by the Department of Health)

Demonstrate Competence in the Required Subjects

Entry requirements may differ per institution, but you will generally be expected to show competency in the following subjects:
