HW Careers

Win a Health or Social Sciences Bursary, Learnership or Artisan Apprenticeship! It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3…

Choosing a career, picking a tertiary institution, deciding on the course, and securing the fees: it’s an exciting time but also daunting. Well, it doesn’t have to be!

South Africa’s Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority (HWSETA) is excited to announce two full undergrad bursaries, two learnerships and two artisan apprenticeships up for grabs for next year. Imagine winning one of those! And it all starts by entering on HWSETA’s dedicated Career Portal.

You Could Win a Bursary
Grade 12 students across the country are invited to enter the undergraduate bursary competition, between now and the end of November, by following these three easy steps.

  • Step one: Enter on the HWSETA career portal online here.
  • Step two: Tell us why you should win, in a 30-60 second video.
  • Step three: Post your video on your social media account, tagging @hwseta_sa and using #HWCareers.

With just three easy steps, you stand a chance to win one of two full bursaries for any undergraduate course in the health and welfare sector. The bursary includes full university tuition at a university of your choice, plus your accommodation, meals and textbooks fully paid for the duration of your studies. Entries will close 30 November, 2022. (Note: Winners must meet minimum requirements as stipulated by HWSETA and the selected university/institute of higher learning.)

In this competition everyone wins, because all entrants get free and unlimited access to the HWSETA Career Portal. This platform is made just for students like you, to help with the big decisions that lie ahead.

Look Out for Other Chances to Win

Opportunities in the health and welfare sector go far beyond the classic nurse, doctor and veterinarian. In October and November, we have two other competitions set to give your career a boost:

  • Win one of two 24-month phlebotomy technician learnerships at Viro Care Health Consultants (Gauteng) including accommodation and transport covered, and a monthly stipend. (Note: entrants need a matric pass with maths and one science.) Entries will open in October.
  • Win one of two artisan apprenticeships for courses as a millwright, boilermaker or diesel mechanic (Note: entrants need a matric pass.) Entries will open in November.

If these opportunities sound like they’re up your alley, keep an eye on our social media pages and the career portal for details on how to win!

Don’t forget to enter on HWSETA’s Career Portal to take your first step towards a possible future in the health and welfare sector.
